Question

If I had jobs both in Va and Md last year, would I still only file state taxes in VA only? Since that is the state I reside in

Yes.  Both Virginia and Maryland have a state reciprocity agreement in place.  This means the nonresident state agrees to report and tax your income to your resident state so you would not need to report or pay taxes to the nonresident state.  Please see this link for more information.

If the wages you earned from Maryland are being shown on your W-2 form as being from Maryland in Box 15, you will need to complete an exemption form to your employer to ensure they do not withhold taxes in the reciprocal state going forward.
