Question

If I lived in Mississippi from 1/1/23 - 6/30/23 and Washington State from 7/1/23-12/31/23, is there a way to deduct sales tax from both states?

You can deduct a prorated amount from both states.

 

In My Info or Personal Info, note that you lived in two states.

 

Then, under Deductions and Credits, go to Estimates and Other Taxes paid, then go to Sales tax. In the interview that follows, you will be able to show the tax rate for both places. Note that halfway through the interview, you will explicitly need to add another location (the second state).
