If the mortage deductions are not beneficial to me, can my co-borrower(non spouse) use it?

It depends.

 

As long as they are listed on the loan as well, they can take the deduction.  


If the Form 1098 is listed with just your social security number, make sure they input the information as requested in TurboTax  as shown below.

  1. Go into the Federal program. 
  2. Select Deductions & Credits 
  3. Select Mortgage Interest and Refinancing (Form 1098) 
  4. Continue through the screens and enter information as prompted.
