Which state(s) must I pay 2021 state tax to?

In 2021, I worked from home in CT as a contractor for a MA company for a remote software developer job in NY state.

My W-2 (from the Boston, MA company who paid me) has a Federal filing copy and a CT State filing copy.

Thanks!

Pay tax to Connecticut. That's what was withheld on your W-2.

You don't provide many details. You probably don't have any connection to NY. The NY company is a client of your company and not you, so you are not performing work for the NY company. You are working for the MA company.

Massachusetts did tax employees for part of 2021 who worked in a physical office in MA pre-pandemic but were forced to work out of state. That doesn't see to apply to you either.

That leaves CT. Connecticut residents are tax on all income earned while living there.
