Question

In New Jersey, my wife and I live at separate residence all year in 2019. We are filing married jointly. Can we deduct property taxes paid on both residence in New Jersey tax returns? Both residence are considered to be principal residence?

Yes, you can deduct property taxes paid on both properties (in fact on all properties you own).

However, on your federal return, the SALT (state and local tax) deduction is limited to $10,000.
