Question

Indiana County Tax Taken When not liable to pay

I moved to Indiana late February and completed my WH-4 with not applicable in both sections pertaining to county as of January 1.

My employer still took out the county taxes so so I advised and they seemed ignorant to the rule. Payroll finally said they fixed it but then again 2 weeks later I got county taxes taken out again.

This is for a part-time job, my full time job is doing everything correctly and I don't want discrepancy in my taxes when I file.

How is this filed for county takes already taken? Will Turbo tax catch that I had no county of residence January 1st or is there a form I need to file?

Can you clarify why you are exempt from county taxes in Indiana?

Hi!

I did not move here until AFTER January 1st. (End of February)

Due to this when filing my WH-4, I had no applicable county of residence or county of work.

Since January 1st is when the county tax is determined, mine will restart January 1st of the next calendar year.

You will need to specify that you lived and worked Out of State as of 1/1.  On the mock return I created, my county tax was calculated at $0.  In this case, you will be credited for any county tax paid.
