Indiana renters deduction move out early

If I moved out early and had to pay rent till landlord find another renter, would Indiana renters deduction includes the extra rent paid even I was not living there?

No.

 

The renter's deduction in Indiana is only available for the period you paid rent on your "principal place of residence" where you intend to return after being absent.  You would not be entitled to the renter's deduction for the period of time you were not living there as your permanent home.

 

However, if you rented another place after leaving the original rental, you may be able to also deduct the rent paid on that location if it was subject to Indiana property tax.
