If you don't have enough itemized deductions to surpass the standard federal deduction but you have enough to surpass the state standard deduction can you itemize state but not federal?

    Not in all states. Fed standard deduction State itemized in

    AL,CA, DE, HI, ID, KY, MN, MS, MT, NY, NC, OR & WI
