My legal residence is Florida (all of my information is registered there DL, voters registration, car registration, insurance etc) but I am temporarily working in and keeping a residence in Alabama. What state do I file and do I have to change my legal residence to avoid tax issues?

No. You don't change your legal residence. You will file a non-resident Alabama return.
