    If you are a non-resident alien, your return must be filed on Form 1040NR, which cannot be prepared using TurboTax.  You can use TT’s partner, sprintax:

    It depends, in general, students with an F1 visa are not resident aliens for income tax purposes.   A resident alien for tax purposes is a person who is a U.S. citizen or a foreign national who meets either the “green card” or “substantial presence” test.  

    F student visa holders are considered resident aliens after five calendar years in the U.S.
