live in FL work remotely for company in PA

My wife is a resident FL but has a remote position with a company in PA. She did travel to work in PA 15-20 days total in 2022. Her employer deducted PA state taxes throughout the year.

1. Can we recoup those taxes paid?

2. DO we need to file a PA state tax return?

3. Anything I am not thinking of?

Thanks

Yes. You do not have to file a joint Pennsylvania income tax return if only one spouse had PA income. In actuality, it doesn’t matter for Pennsylvania. The Keystone state taxes income separately on a joint return, so if you filed together, only your spouse’s income would be taxed, the same as if your spouse filed separately and you did not file at all.

Yes, if she traveled to PA to work, she will owe taxes in PA and need to file a PA Return that includes Schedule NRH for the days spent working in PA. As you walk through the steps in TurboTax, this form will be generated when you show that she had PA income and you were not a resident of the state.  Here you will enter the number of days spent working in PA, number of non working days, and number of days worked inside of PA.  The days spent working inside PA will be taxed at 3.07%.  You should receive a refund for the days spent working from your home in FL.
