I live in Florida Full Time, Started a New Job Fully Remote and the main headquarters is in Atlanta but they have Satellite Office Presence in Multiple States and Florida being One of them.

The Issue is they screwed up and Had me paying GA State Taxes for about 4-5 months before i even realized and got it addressed.

My question is, What do i do? What do i need to fill out Tax Form wise to Get a refund? or am i just SOL? Do i need to fill out pay for a GA state tax return fee as well?

Thanks in Advance.

you can ask your company for that money back then they would have to file amended payroll tax returns to get the money back from GA. should they refuse, you would have to file a nonresident return for GA.

thanks i asked about that, they said i would have to take it up with the State.

So if i do nonresident return means i have to File for GA or is that different and just a FORM?

    Q. So if i do nonresident return means i have to File for GA or is that different and just a FORM?

    A. GA uses the same form (form 500), regardless of filing status (non resident, in your case).

In TurboTax (TT), when asked, in the personal section, if you made money in another state, answer yes. This is just to get  TT to generate the GA software.  When you start the GA return, you will clarify your filing status and that you did not actually work in GA.

Instead of e-filing, you may want to mail the GA return, so that you can attach an explanation statement.  When they see GA in box 15 of your W-2, they may not be so quick to give you a refund.
