I live in Idaho and DO NOT earn income in Idaho. I work for the state of OR remotely from ID. I have to file my state taxes obviously but I am confused why I have to file for state of Idaho as a resident if I do not earn income in ID. Can someone explain this please?

As a resident of Idaho, ALL your income is taxable by Idaho - regardless of where you earn it.

If all of your work for your Oregon employer was performed remotely from a location outside Oregon, it is not taxable by Oregon.

Oregon taxes non-residents only on income from work actually (physically) performed within Oregon.

As long as your work is carried on 100% remotely, your employer should withhold ID, and not OR, taxes from your pay.
