Lived and worked in NY. Moved to CT and work for same company in CT office. Is my CT income taxable in NY?

No. You will only be responsible for the income tax sourced in New York State before you moved since your employer has an established office at your Connecticut location. 

 

You will have to file two part-year returns - one for Connecticut and one for New York. 

 

Please make sure you've filled out the Personal Info section correctly. To do so, you can follow the steps below:

  1. With your return open, select My Info in the left-hand menu.
  2. Then, on the Personal info summary screen, scroll down to Other State Income, and select Edit.
  3. Scroll down to Tell us the state(s) you lived in and make sure Connecticut is selected. 
  4. Answer yes for I lived in another state.
  5. Select New York for your previous state of residence and enter the date you became a resident of Connecticut. 
  6. Click State on the left-hand side.
  7. Make sure both Connecticut and New York are listed as part-year resident returns.
