Local/City Tax Witheld for Workplace/Winning Municipality

I lived in both NC and OH during 2019

When I look over my federal W2 entries, they all match the W2's I have in hand. However, when I go for the final review, its claiming that "column 2, Local/City Tax Witheld for Workplace/Winning Municipality" is showing -454 and +454, and that I cannot be less than 0. I cannot find how it's populating these numbers in order to fix it. Please help

I suspect that the Local/City Tax Withheld that you refer to are in boxes 18 through 20 of one or more W-2?

Follow these directions.

  • Down the left side of the screen, click on Federal.
  • Across the top of the screen, click on Income & expenses.
  • Under Your income and expenses, scroll down to W-2.
  • Click on Edit/Add to the right of W-2.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

There is a trashcan icon to the right of the box Associated State that will allow you to delete just boxes 18 through 20.  See also Add another row that will allow you to re-enter boxes 18 through 20.

You may delete the boxes and see whether that removes the Final Review issue that you describe above.  Then re-enter with Add another row and see whether the issue returns.
