MA amended return rejected

I just filed an amended return, and my federal return was accepted just fine but my MA state amended return was rejected, with the error code: "F1-0965 - The Amended Form was received where no original Form has been filed."

However, I have confirmation from TurboTax that the original MA return was accepted. Why might this be happening?

Even though the MA was filed it may not have been processed by MA yet. If it is not processed then it is not filed. You may need to wait until processed prior to submitting an amended return. Your return will be considered processed when you receive the refund or balance due notice from MA.
