Massachusetts Resident Income Tax Return (Line 39: 2022 overpayment applied to your 2023 estimated tax)

TurboTax carried over my 2022 overpayment applied to my 2023 estimated taxes on my Federal Return included on Line 26.

TurboTax did not carry over my 2022 overpayment applied to my 2023 estimated taxes on my Massachusetts State Return on Line 39.

I did not include these amounts when I completed the Estimated Taxes inputs (as was noted in the instructions).

Any advice on rectifying this would be helpful.

You will need to make the entries in the federal interview that will carryover to the MA state interview.

In the "Deductions & Credits" section:

  1. Scroll down to "Estimates and other Taxes Paid"
  2. Click the dropdown
  3. Start/revisit "Income Taxes Paid"
  4. Select the dropdown for 2022 refunds applied
  5. Start/revisit 2022 refunds applied to 2023 state taxes

Credit will then be applied to your MA state return forms.

Thank you for the excellent answer. That was a tricky one to find in the application.
