Why doesn't Turbo Tax include the Michigan Form 4884 in the 2024 version? Taxpayer is a retired police officer, and based on all the appropriate data, the taxpayer is not required to pay any Michigan State Income Tax.  The State of Michigan requires a Form 4884 to be supplied with the return. The question is asked if the income was from a public pension related to law enforcement, but the Form 4884 is not generated. Just a side note, HR Block includes the Form 4884 with their program. A reuseably quick response is requested.

Form 4884 is included in the 2024 version. You just have to make sure you enter the information in your information correctly and TurboTax will handle your pension income.

When you enter your Form 1099-R on your federal return a question will pop up asking where your pension is from and other questions regarding your retirement income. ‌You will need to go back and answer those questions correctly so that the deduction is calculated on your state return.

Where do I enter my 1099-R?
