Why does my state taxes keep getting rejected?

    It depends.

    • Check the Michigan Forms Availability. Typically, the federal return and the state return are both rejected.
      • For returns that have the federal accepted and the state rejected, the state may include pages that are unsupported for e-filing. In that event, the state return could be mailed in. TurboTax will provide thorough instructions for paper filing if needed. 
        • It is a best practice to send the return by certified mail which proves via a special receipt that it was mailed and notifies you when it was delivered.
    • Check your email for a notification and explanation from TurboTax. 
    • Log in to your TurboTax Online program and click Fix my return. For additional support and a short video click How do I fix a rejected return? This link includes the most common rejection codes from the IRS.
