Just downloaded 2024 Montana. It doesn't allow for Married filing Separate when Federal is Married filing Joint. Is Turbotax aware of this and are they fixing it?

There's nothing wrong with your Montana TurboTax software -- under new law, Montana taxpayers are required to use the same filing status on their state return that they used on their federal return.

So, if you filed Married Filing Jointly on your federal return, that's what you'll need to use on your Montana return, as well.

See Filing statuses in the 2024 Montana Form 2 Individual Income Tax Instructions for more information.

Thanks for the quick answer. I wasn't aware of the law change.
