I have 1098 for a home I no longer own in MD.  Then 2 additional 1098s for my current home in NC.  All my remote income for 2023 was from MD  but I purchased the NC house on June 15th.  How do I put the mortgage interest on the MD return and the NC return.  I want to file a $0 wage return for NC to show residency.

Enter all your 1098's in your Federal return, under Deductions & Credits > Mortgage Interest.

If you moved from Maryland to North Carolina during 2023, you may need to file a Part-Year Resident Return for each of those states, reporting income earned while residing in those states.

In the state interviews, you will be able to exclude income that transferred from your Federal return that does not belong to that state.
