Hello!

I moved in November of 2024 from Arizona to Illinois. I still work for an Arizona based company and my payroll has Arizona taxes (flat 2.5%) deducted. I do not earn income in Illinois.  A few questions:

1) Will I need to file both Arizona and Illinois state taxes? And do I need to pay Illinois state taxes in addition to the Arizona ones already paid for the 6 weeks I lived in Illinois in 2024.

As additional informatinon, I also rent out my home in Arizona, so I know I will need to pay taxes on that as well (in Arizona).

Thanks for the help!

You will need to file a Part Year Arizona and Part Year Illinois tax return. You will report income earned in the state while a resident and state source income for the time you were a nonresident.  TurboTax will walk you through the steps to allocate the income in the state section.  Please fell free to post if you have questions as you are preparing the return.
