I spent all of 2023 working in FL but in early January I started a new job in AL and am keeping a temporary residence in the state. My legal residence is still in FL and all of my identifying documents are tied to that address. Should I file a non-resident AL tax return because it is the location of my current job or does my time in Florida take priority?

If you did not start the job in Alabama until January 2024 then you do not file a AL state income tax return for 2023.

For tax year 2024 you would file a nonresident Alabama tax return for the income received while working in Alabama.
