My daughter is a F/T student and received a W2 in Oregon, but is a resident of Hawaii, what state tax return does she file?

Her W2 from Oregon only had $0.17 taken out as state withholdings.  Not worth purchasing Oregon State download.  I already have the Hawaii State downloaded and wondering if I need to file for Oregon.  Daughter is a resident of Hawaii.

I would agree that it is quite probably not worth purchasing the Oregon state tax program to file your daughter's return if her income is below the state's filing threshold, which I cannot determine from the information provided in this public forum. Please refer to Oregon Department of Revenue to find the state-specific requirements that would apply to your daughter.

As you indicate that your daughter is a resident of Hawaii, you would be correct in filing a state tax return for her in her resident state, (1) if she meets the filing threshold or (2) if she has Hawaii taxes withheld that should be refunded to her.
