I am staying in Nevada (No State Tax) but my employer keep deducting my taxes for my old state Hawaii (State Tax applicable) for the whole year. How to recover those taxes paid to Hawaii State. Also, can I do that using the turbo tax.

Thanks

@Rahulprinjay --You can do this in TurboTax.   I am assuming you did not live in, or have income from, Hawaii in 2019.  If that is correct,  in the personal info section of TT, enter NV as your State of Residence, answer No to the question about having lived in another state in 2019, and then indicate that you had other state income from HI.  This will prompt the program to generate a non-resident HI return.  On the HI return, indicate that you had zero HI income.

I suggest you submit the HI return on paper, and attach a letter explaining the discrepancy between the return and your W-2.

You have to file a Hawaii state return to get a refund of those taxes, if any.

Were you still a resident of Hawaii while you were "staying" in Nevada? If so, Hawaii is still entitled to tax your income from Nevada even though Nevada has no state income tax.

What do you mean by "staying in Nevada"?  Have you literally moved to Nevada, or are you living there temporarily while still maintaining your home in Hawaii?

If you have moved to Nevada, and it is your new home, did you move in 2019 or in an earlier year?

I moved to nevada from Jan of the 2019 but my taxes were still been deducted for the hawaii state. Pay stab has two entries for hawaii tax one is HI Tax other is OASDI. How to get that money deducted from my paycheck back.

Submit a non-resident Hawaii tax return, showing ZERO Hawaii income, in order to obtain a refund of the incorrectly withheld Hawaii taxes.

best would be to contact the State of Hawaii Department of Revenue to find out how to proceed

the state has gotten a W-2 that shows HI wages.   when they see that they may reject the non-resident return.

for a corrected w-2, the employer would show $0 Hi wages and the actual withholding and you NE wages with no withholding.
