My son is a full-time college student in California and has to file a California non-resident return to report scholarship income.  His father claims him as a dependent and is a FL resident, and therefore does not file a California return.  There are several fields in Turbo Tax that are asking for amount from the parents California Forms 540 or 540NR in order to complete FTB3800.  What do I enter here?  There are several areas in Turbo Tax that specifically state to enter zero if a field does not apply, but that is not the case here.  If I leave the fields empty, it produces an error.  Am I expected to put a zero in all of these fields?

Enter zero since you have no California income.
