Question

My W2 is saying that I made about 14,000 dollars in SC last year. However, Turbo Tax is saying that I own almost 3500 dollars in taxes to SC. How is this possible?

The top tax rate in SC is 6.5%, if my W2 is saying that I earned 14,581.15 cents in 2022, why is TurboTax trying to say that I owe almost 24% of that in taxes to the state? Is this a ploy to get me to pay for live help?

Did you review your W-2 entries to make sure it has been entered correctly? Are you filing multiple state returns?

How do I allocate (split) income for a part-year state return?
