NC K1 Line 9

Hello - I have a NC K1 that shows an amount in line 9 "Non-resident share of taxes paid by the partnership". This amount does not populate in Form D-400 Line 21c. This has been an issue for years. Last year I was able to force it in by entering an amount in the federal K-1 box 13 code w but the IRS changed the box 13 codes so that doesn't work. The other solution is to enter the same amount as withholding, which gets put on line 21a and then print it, white out 21a and write it where it is supposed to be. NC will reject the return if it is on the wrong line. Anyone know any workarounds or hope for an actual fix? Thx!

You can report this tax in TurboTax for Desktop (any version) using Forms Mode (F6 or Forms>>Open Form...).

    1. Open K1 Partner under Federal, then click the QuickZoom button under Line 13 for "codes R and W to ZZ."
    2. When the K1P Addl Info form opens, scroll down to Box 13 Code WW to ZZ Line 5.
    3. Enter your state code (NC) in the small box and the amount to the right.
    4. Now open Form D-400 p1,2 under North Carolina and confirm the entry on Line 21.

The additional information for Box 13 Code ZZ is not available in TurboTax Online. See this article if you need to switch to desktop: How do I switch from TurboTax Online to the TurboTax software?

Also, contact TurboTax Support and request a free download due to the online program restrictions.
