I am trying to file a nonresident state tax return for the state of Nebraska. I received a Nebraska K-1N and it has an amount listed on Line 22: Nebraska Income Tax Withheld. Where do I enter this on my nonresident state return? I feel like this should be in the adjustments portion of the state return but I don't see a question pertaining to this in the TurboTax State walkthrough.

You can include the Nebraska withholding amount on your Federal return.  Then it will transfer to the Nebraska return to apply it to the income tax.

Use these steps:

  • Go to Deductions and Credits > Estimates and Other Taxes Paid > Other Income Taxes and click Start or Update.
  • Then scroll to Other Income Taxes Paid in 2023.
  • Click Start or Update beside Withholding not already entered on a W-2 or 1099.
  • Answer Yes, and then enter the amount under State Withholdings.
