Hello,

I need some answers with figuring out double tax income screen on PA state tax.  i am not sure how to fill this portion out.  Moved in PA in May 2023 from NY.   Received 2 W2 forms.

box 1 for federal is $66040.98

box 16 NY                $66040.98  Box 17   $1343.78

box 16 PA                 $38281.24  Box 17   $1175.26

box 18 PA                 $38281.24  Box 19   $1301.59

when i get to to that screen, not sure what to enter in Gross compensation and tax due in each column.

In addition, there is no form available to fill the local income tax for the locality name 350901 in PA.

I would appreciate any assistance.

thank you.

You're going to need to pay tax on the full amount of income in New York.  Your employer reported all of your income as New York State income because New York state taxes remote workers.  So file the part year resident return for New York first.

Then you'll file the PA return.  You'll be able to take a credit on the Pennsylvania return for the taxes paid to New York in order to not be taxed twice on the same income.

If you continue working remotely for this same New York company then you will do this every year unless they establish an office in Pennsylvania for you to work from.

The local forms sometimes take a little time to be ready and not all of them are supported by TurboTax.  Use this tool to see if your state forms are available and also check the website for your locality to see if they support electronic filing at all.
