Question

need to file a 2022 ohio state tax return, (a non-resident state), for w-2g tax withheld. my federal/state tax returns for 2022 were filed and accepted with turbo! thx

can the 2022 ohio state return be filed on-line on turbo even though we are now on 2024 tax returns? i want to claim the refund for the amount withheld and i am due a refund that i did not claim. thx

    YES

     

    If you used TurboTax to file your 2022 Federal return, you can go to "Your Tax Returns and Documents".

    Choose 2022 and select "Add a state".

    Continue to complete the nonresident Ohio return. 

     

    There is no way for me to test, but I assume you will be able to efile since Ohio accepts Amended returns electronically. 

     

    If you get a refund in 2025, when you do your 2025 Tax Year return next year, be sure to report that refund IF YOU ITEMIZED DEDUCTIONS ON YOUR 2022 FEDERAL RETURN. 

    If you did not itemize and took the standard deduction on your 2022 tax year return, the Ohio state refund needn't be reported.
