My house became a total loss--[PII removed], Seminole Fl 33772 from hurricane Helene

for loss of personal use property in a federally declared disaster area, the tax laws give you a choice. you can report it in the prior year or the year of the loss. For personal use property complete form 4684 section A.

Follow these steps:

  • FEMA website to search for specific disaster for the code to file the forms.
  • I have another post where I showed how to enter Form 4684 Hurricane Milton.
  • Choose which year gives you the higher refund
