New Mexico Taxing Pension while I live in Texas

My Dad  Receives a Teachers Pension from the state of New Mexico.  He lives in Texas and did not reside in New Mexico for the entire year.  State taxes were withheld.  The tax form done in Turbo Tax clearly states he is a non resident.  However, the State will not refund his money and says he owes more.  When I called about the tax I was told that the way the tax was filed he needs to pay, or amend the tax form.  They would not tell me any thing further about what needs changing.  Has anyone else experienced this issue?  Any suggestions on what to do?

Can you take a look at NM Form PIT-1, line 1e, and see if "N" is entered there? If it is, the return was filed for a nonresident, and only NM-sourced income taxed.

You may want to contact TurboTax support and see if someone can take a look at the return and determine what is (if anything) amiss. If the first expert you talk to is not an expert in NM taxes, you can request a callback from another expert.
