New York Part Year Resident days allocation

My daughter moved to New York in May for a job in Connecticut.  She stayed with her same employer but moved offices.  She worked all year for the same company and every single day she worked outside of the state of New York (half in Colorado and half in CT).  TurboTax won't let me use the same number of days worked outside of New York to equal the number of days worked at this job.  They are the same - she worked 241 days at her job and 241 of those days were outside of the state of NY.

Why can't those numbers be the same?

I am confused why you are allocating days. You say your daughter moved to New York for a job in Connecticut but worked every day outside New York state.

If you daughter's residence was New York, then all her income would be taxable to New York and there would be no allocation, even if she worked out of state as long as her domicile remained NY.

If she lived all year in Connecticut, but was based in the New York office, then she would be taxed under the convenience of the employer rule and would be taxed as a nonresident for all the days in NY.

If she was a part year New York (or Connecticut resident) and part-year Colorado resident, then all her days during residency outside Colorado would be allocated to New York.
