No taxable income or tax due. Only 401k rollover to IRA

Hi All,

I did a rollover conversion from 401k to IRA in 2024. I had no other income and my income tax liability is 0. When I submitted my tax return it got rejected since there there is no earned income. Error message

At least one of the following must have a non-zero value: `TotalECIAmt` or `AdjustedGrossIncomeAmt` or `TaxAmt` or `TotalCreditsAmt` or `TotalTaxAmt` or `TotalPaymentsAmt`

How I fix this so I can e-file?

Did you report the 1099-R for the conversion?

Yes. I did. It has Code G in box 7 & SEP/IRA/SIMPLE is not checked.

Okay. The problem is that you can’t efile with a zero AGI. Report a dollar of interest and all will be well. Go to income >interest and for bank name write “to enable e-file “ and don’t do anything else on that screen.
