Question

Non resident filing in Kansas. Federal amount is $790 and Kansas amout is $1000. How do I fix the Federal amount? Can't find it on my forms.

"Federal amount .." of what? What are you referring to? Income item? Deduction item? Please be specific so that we can help you.

on my 1040 line 1 is $790.00 and on my Kansas state form " the amount from Kansas source is $1000. It says the amount can not be higher then my federal amount of $790.00.

Okay, so that's wages. That is controlled by your entries for the W-2, possibly Boxes 15 (State ID) & 16 (State wages), and your entries in TT/Kansas for the allocation of total wages and how much of that is Kansas source. It does seem like KS wages shouldn't be more than federal wages so go back and review your entries for those areas.
