Non-resident MD

I live in NY and work for the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) teaching online.  I have been paying taxes to MD but a CPA just told me that I should be able to have that changed and just pay taxes in NY. Is this correct?

That is correct.  If you do not physically work in MD, you would not need to pay MD taxes.  You would just need to pay NY taxes. If you occasionally visit the campus in MD to work, the days you are physically present in MD, you would need to pay taxes to MD for those days only.
