If I was a nonresident of Iowa why is interest income showing up on income page of Turbo tax? Do I need to claim that interest if I did not live in Iowa in 2019?

Here are some common examples for Iowa source income :

    • Income from Iowa property
      • rental income
      • capital gain on the sale of property
    • Self employment income earned while working in Iowa
    • Iowa gambling winnings
    • Income from pass-through entities, such as partnerships and S-corporations.

It will show your full income, but then it should split out your federal income and your Iowa source income and only tax you on your Iowa source income.  Do you have a form IA126?  This is where is splits Federal income and Iowa income.
