Notice of Proposed Assessment from State of Ca for 2016: "Schedule CA is incorrect"

Is it possible Turbo Tax used the wrong schedule when we did our taxes for 2016??? Or is FTB wrong here? Getting ready to call FTB (not sure I'll get a human) and I'm thoroughly confused as to how I'm going to blame this on an algorithm without even understanding it in the first place.  Has anyone else encountered this problem where Turbo Tax used the wrong form? Or did it turn out to be FTB got it wrong??

Not necessarily that the use of the form is wrong.......the schedule CA is used on a huge % of California tax returns.

But, the Schedule CA is used for a whole host of various "Adjustments" to CA income, so you would need to define which particular lines the the CA FTB disagreed with  (maybe the FTB told you in their letter) .  Look at the actual  2016 Schedule CA, what exact lines were used in your particular 2016 CA tax return that they disagreed with?
