NY tax calculation help

Currently trying to claim credit for taxes paid to NY while a resident of NJ. If the New Jersey income my husband and I received that was taxed by both New Jersey and New York was $100k, while total NY nonresident income was $150k and total NY net state tax was $8k, how do i calculate the amount of tax we paid to New York on just that $100k? Would I just divide $100k/$150k (67%), and take 67% of $8k?

Background: I telecommuted to NY from NJ for the first half of 2021, and from OR for the second half. My partner telecommuted to NY from NJ for only the first half, and then changed to a job in OR for the second half.

If during the NY state interview you allocated $100K of the $150K to NY then the tax on NY income was $8,000.

NY uses all the income in it's calculation of the tax on NY income.  100K/150K = .6667  and then .6667 x 12,000 (NY tax on 150K) = 8000 tax on the NY portion.

If you did not allocate only 100K to NY then you should revisit the NY interview and "update" the income section to allocate as needed. That will, as noted, give you the correct NY tax on the NY portion of your income.
