Hi, we did not owe any school district taxes in previous years. Would having a 1099-misc ( did consulting work) impact that as this year (2022)  we owe.

    Yes, you would owe tax on that income since there would not be any taxes withheld from that income.   You will owe federal, state, and local taxes on any earned income.   These taxes are usually withheld by your employer and reported on your W-2, but as a self-employed person, you are responsible for paying those taxes that were not withheld.
