Question

On my W2, box 15, my state is Tennessee but I have no employer state ID number. Does this mean if I live in a state with no income tax that I have to mail in my tax form?

Several  states do not have a state income tax.  So these states will not show up in certain drop down lists.   Leave boxes 15, 16, and 17 blank when you enter a W-2 for these states.

Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming

No. You don't have to file by mail if you live in a state with no income tax. As xmasbaby0 mentioned, leave boxes 15,16 and 17 blank. That should take care of the error message and you should be able to e-file.
