I serve on a nonprofit board that is located in another state. Should the board member fees reported on 1099-NEC be reported as out-of-state income for my Federal tax return?

They would be out of state income only if you physically perform your duties in the other state.

I did not physically perform any duty out of state in 2022.  The bonus income I received in the year 2022 was actually for the duty I performed in 2021 when I lived in that state.

So based on your response, since I did not physically perform any duties in the other state during 2022, although state taxes were withheld by the other state, I do not file return for that state?   Is that correct?
