PA State Tax Form not pulling in FL income

I am trying to complete my PA State taxes online.  I am a full year Pennsylvania resident who earned income in Florida that I need to count on my PA return.  For some reason Turbo Tax isn't pulling in the Florida income into my PA return.  The W2 for the Florida income has all the state and local boxes (boxes 15-20) empty if that makes any difference.  Turbo Tax is asking me to file a non-resident Florida return, and when I try to delete the pending Florida return by clicking on the delete icon (since I don't need to file a non resident Florida return) it does not let me delete it.   How do I get turbo tax to include my Florida income as taxable PA income?

To get your FL income to be included on your PA return, you will need to go back to your W2 and edit it to show that you had state income and not just federal.

You can do this by selecting the following:

  • Federal
  • Wages and Income
  • Show More next to Wages and Salaries
  • Revisit next to your W2
  • go to box 15 and select PA, then go to box 16 and enter your wages that should be taxable to PA

This will show your FL income on your PA return as taxable income.

Thank you for the reply! That seems to get the income to flow correctly into the PA return but I wanted to confirm that it is OK for me to add information to the W2 that isn't originally there?

Yes, this adjustment is only done to get the income routed to the correct state, it does not get reported on your tax return (there are some entries that you do not want to change, and really only in rare cases it is recommended to correct a specific issue like in this case.) @TaxQ1122
