Paid Family Leave Tax in DC

My husband and I both received paid family leave as residents of DC. He had state and federal tax withheld from his payments and I did not.

I am filling out the DC return as "married filing separately on the same return." When I get to the questions about paid family leave, there is a single field that asks for the amount of paid family leave received (reported on 1099-G). Should I enter the combined total of our leave payments in this field? Additionally, how can I indicate the taxes that we already paid? From the way that our tax burden changes after I enter our leave payments, it seems that Turbotax is assuming that no tax was withheld.

You can enter the state tax in the federal deductions section. Follow these steps:

    1. Locate Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
    2. Select Other Income Taxes
    3. Select withholding not already entered
    4. Select yes
    5. Select State, enter amount
