Lived part-time in NJ. When filing NJ tax return, how do I distribute NJ munis for exempt dividends. For example, if I had 5000 in exempt dividends and 2500 were in NJ munis and I lived in NJ for 1/2 year, do I take 1/2 the 2500 or can I take it all. When Turbotax asks for Amount attributable to NJ, what do I enter?

Thank you.

You need to allocate the New Jersey dividends to that state for the period of time you lived there. When TurboTax asks for the amount attributable to New Jersey, you need to enter how much dividends you received while living in New Jersey.

If you assume that the dividends were received evenly during the year, you could simply divide the total dividend income for the year by 2.
