Part-year Resident in NY and IL but W2 shows whole income under NY

I moved from NY to IL in April 2023 but am working for the same company (NY based, with a location in IL). My W2 shows a portion of my total income earned in IL in Box 16, and the amount shown there makes sense based on when I moved. However, for NY, my entire gross income is listed. Is this an error that I need corrected by my employer? I'm confused as to why the amount for NY isn't just the difference between my gross income and the amount earned in IL.

It's not an error. New York has an unusual rule that the amount in box 16 must be the same as box 1. Any adjustments are made on the tax return. When you do your New York tax return you will be asked how much of your income was from New York.
