Paying owed MO state taxes 2023

Hi,

So after the flow, the website asked me to printout a voucher and mail the check to the state myself to pay for the taxes owed.

I have been filing MO state taxes in the last few years, this was the first time Turbotax asked me to mail anything (but I was also given the option to leave my bank account for a direct payment which is confusing)

I wonder if there's a system change this year or I can just disregard the message?

I did leave my bank account so that the state could just take money from my bank but they haven't taken the money yet, it's been a few weeks.
The federal tax was processed a couple weeks ago but haven't heard anything about the state tax.
The MO website https://dor.mo.gov/taxation/return-status/ says it's processed but looks like I have to pay it still, somehow.

Thanks in advance!

Maybe, but you should confirm.  If you had set up a direct debit, you would have entered a date for the payment to be withdrawn.    The voucher would have printed whether you elected to pay directly or not.  So, the fact that it printed doesn't mean you did not set up direct debit.   You may have set it up to take the payment closer to the due date.   However, this information should be included with the filing instructions that printed out when you filed.   Review the link below, and you will need to use the Add a State function since you have already filed.

How do I review tax payment information after filing?    This article references the federal return and refund, but information regarding your state payment should also be included.  It should say whether you elected to mail your state payment or set up a direct debit payment date.

Here is the message displayed when you filed the Missouri tax return:

The due date for 2023 Missouri Individual Income Taxes is April 15, 2024.  To ensure receipt and allow for tracking of a payment, the Department encourages tax due be paid electronically, either by direct debit with your e-filed return or online at https://dor.mo.gov/personal/payonline.php.  Please allow up to 7 business days, after the effective date, for electronic payments to be deducted from your bank account. Payments can also be made over the phone by calling 888-929-0513. If paying by paper check, payment should be mailed to the address indicated on the return or payment voucher. Additional information can be found at DOR MO FAQ
