Like the title says the notice says they’re correcting my return and if I agree with the changes I do nothing and they will send the refund due and if I don’t agree I send the information requested within 30 days. See the Explanation of IL1040 Changes. There is no difference in the figures and in the notes for explanation there is nothing. Since there is zero difference I agree. The page 3 Explanation of 1040 Changes says “Verify Business Income or Loss” to complete the processing of your return please send us….federal tax return, any 1099’s federal schedule C etc and an included form called - “Illinois Income Verification Questionnaire”. Since I agree do I have to do all that and send it back? The instructions are contradictory and confusing.

It sounds like they want you to verify the business income by sending them the forms and schedules they are requesting. They are not adjusting your tax, they just want to verify it's correctness by seeing the documents listed. You could call them to verify that though.

I have received this same letter in the mail this year and I was just curious what you ended up doing? Thanks!

Can you clarify if they are asking for any schedules or proof of documentation in the letter?
