For 2024, I Filed the federal form as married filing jointly. For NY State, my Wife is a non-resident, I am a resident, I am filing separately in New York State. Turbo Tax does not digitally file NYS forms separately. NY State requires digital form for filing the return.

Residency

New York only requires electronically filed returns if your software is able to. Since you have to prepare your New York return separately, you will not have a federal return that was electronically filed as you are creating a mock federal return to generate the Married Filing Separately state return. Therefore, it is not possible to e-file your state return. See page 26 of the instructions in the previous link for directions on assembling your return for mailing.
